COVID-19 has certainly changed our day-to-day lives, and while it is easy to focus on the hardships and sacrifices, we have each had to make, we wanted to take this time to look back at the bright moments of this year. The entire Riddle Village community came together, embraced the challenges, and was able to create happy memories and reach important achievements. Read below for a look back at 2021 and some of the highlights that made this year so special to us.
Courtyard and Thoroughbred Lounge Renovations
Things are looking different around Riddle Village lately, with the redesign of the courtyard and a complete makeover and expansion of the Thoroughbred Lounge. In the courtyard, the putting green was relocated. With this move, we were able to install an even larger putting green for our residents to enjoy. In its place just outside of the Gold Room, a tranquil butterfly garden was added thanks to a generous donation from the Wallach Family Fund. Inside, the Thoroughbred Lounge was transformed into a space that includes a restaurant, lounge, and bar.
Executive Management Changes
There have been a lot of exciting changes among our executive team. Bob Bertolette, who had been President and CEO of Riddle Village for over 25 years, entered his well-deserved retirement. To celebrate Bob, we had a special Wine & Cheese which included speeches, gifts, and a special assortment of food and drinks. With Bob’s retirement came the appointment of Kimberly Foster-Roguszewski as the new President and CEO of Riddle Village. Kim has been a part of Riddle Village for 26 years and has held many different titles here, including staff accountant, Assistant Director of Accounting, Director of Accounting, and Chief Financial Officer. Ron Waterman was promoted to Executive Vice President after serving many years as our Nursing Home Administrator, Chief Operating Officer, and Vice President of Operations. We are so thankful to our dedicated management team and are looking forward to the exciting opportunities they will bring to our community!
The Return of Resident Favorites
In 2020, society was forced to take a step back and remain as distanced as possible to help stop the spread of Covid-19. While there were still restrictions in 2021, we were able to return to “normal” in several major ways thanks to the vaccine. At Riddle Village, residents were once again able to enjoy their favorite activities and programs while following the proper safety precautions.
Shows put on by our own residents in the Non-Traveling Theatre Troupe and the chorus was a hit, with a packed Towne Hall enjoying every performance. We also were able to bring back the Wine & Cheese to celebrate major events, such as Bob’s retirement and a kickoff to the holiday season. Evening entertainment, group and club meetings, and much more helped our residents stay entertained and engaged this year!
Bocce and Putting Tournaments
Our residents’ favorite warm-weather activities can all be found in the courtyard. Just like in summers past, the bocce ball court was filled with teams and spectators this season. Each Independent Living building has a team, and some even have t-shirts made! During special evening matches or championships, there may be food, drinks, and a warm fire pit to make the night a memorable one. Our community was also excited to break in the new putting green this season. Not only did residents enjoy playing against each other, but the 23rd Annual Donald Laughlin Putting Tournament brought employees into the mix as well! We are already looking forward to next season!
In 2021 we welcomed 64 new neighbors to Riddle Village! Are you thinking of making a move in 2022 and want to learn more about what life is like in our community? Please contact us today to learn more.
